Channel your Energy for Good! |

I'm really excited to say we've been selected by Jetix Television (part of Disney) to take part in a special competition to promote the positive benefits of the Martial Arts. It's called the "Channel Your Energy for Good" competition and it's all to do with the new series of the Power Rangers on TV. Click here for the Jetix Power Rangers Website If you click on the Power Rangers logo. When the buttons appear, click on 'Kids' and then 'Martial Arts' and you'll see all about the competition. This is an amazing opportunity for us as they have only chosen 15 schools in the whole of the UK, and they have selected us in particular because of our focus on the martial arts as a complete form of personal development, including the valuable life-skills etc that we focus on every month. This fits in really well with the aim of the competition, which is all about getting kids to channel their energy in positive ways. The Power Rangers are heroes and can help inspire, empower and teach kids, and so by partnering with the Power Rangers we can help kids see how the values and virtues of the martial arts - discipline, control, team work, self respect, contribution, leadership etc. can all be applied in real life. The competitionThe competition is open to all students between 5 and 10 years old. In each school there will be a winner, and they will be chosen based on both their conduct, attitude and behaviour in class, plus their contribution and behaviour at home, all over the next four weeks. It's all about setting an example, and living up to the values we're trying to promote. Quite simply, the child who has been judged to set the best example will win. What do they win? • A specially made, Power Rangers martial arts belt! Three lucky kids (selected at random from the 15 school winners) will also be presented with their prizes by a real-life Power Ranger during class! That means we've got the chance for a real power ranger to visit our school - how cool would that be! In addition, we'll be taking lots of photos and getting the local papers involved. Plus, the winners may be interviewed by Jetix for the power Rangers TV/Website too! What do you have to do?Well firstly, we are looking for the child that has set the best example in class, in all areas of attitude, effort and contribution. This will be judged by us the instructors and SWAT team members. So, what do the kids have to do at home? Well this is the one for the parents to judge. Basically, over the next four weeks (starting right away), we want to know that they are helping out around the house, and that their behaviour is excellent at all times. There are some specific areas that we want to see, these are: Week One: Keeping their bedroom tidy, including making their bed every morning. Each week introduces a new task, which stacks up. i.e. just because they are helping with the washing up, they are still expected to keep their rooms tidy. We'll give you all a form to tick these off each week to record that they have done the weeks new task to your satisfaction, but please don't just tick the boxes unless you are really happy with the effort your child has made - after all, this is also to your advantage too! So, don't forget, one of our students WILL be a winner, and it could be YOU!
